Hey everyone,
I finally get to blog today. Sorry it has taken me a while to let everyone know that I made it here safely. I arrived in to Africa at 7:00 pm on Monday (11:00 US time.) Ask the group if I slept the whole entire way there. Yes, I did and it was the longest nap I have ever had in my life. I think I slept almost 24 hours. It was wonderful and made the trip go fast. When I arrived I found that my luggage with toiletries and clothes were missing in action. Somebody took the wrong luggage. I was worried but there was nothing I could do. The attendants were very helpful and kept asking me for my (bug sticker) lol the whole time they were saying bag. Anyway it was funny. I left the airport to head to ACK Guest house where we are staying at with the clothes I was wearing and my bookbag (Carry on) and my souvenir bag (or bug). I trained my mind for the last 2 days thinking well looks like I am going to have to go shopping because I have no clothes or my medicine. We definlity had the day off yesterday and went to a local mall here in Niarobi. Someone tried to sell my a bird. Dad, can I bring a bird home? lol The vendors come right up to your window! Ok anyway, I bought 9,100 shilings (120 USD) worth of clothes, toiletries and underwear stuff. The night before I could not sleep and was thinking about my luggage all night; therefore, I prayed from 3:00am when I woke up until 6:30 am when I finally got back to sleep. I wrote in my journal, I know I do not have hardly anything with me as of today, but I know that God will provide. Even though I may have nothing I have everything waiting for me when I get back home. Love of a family, my fiance, my friends, and first and for most I arrived to Kenya in one piece. I was thanking God the whole night. Tuesday
morning arrived after a hard night of not sleeping well. I woke up and figured haha what should I wear today? The same clothes I have been wearing for the past 2 days. My friend Diana gave me a wrap around skirt to wear and yes I fit right in I wore it (picture a towel wrapped around my waste). I felt like I was on survior. It was great! Me not having my luggage made the trip more interesting! I loved it! I finally got clothes and meds while I was at the mall. We went home after a long day shopping and checking out the city, dinner time came around 7:00pm (Niarobi time). I went into eat and two fellas came up to the counter in the lobby and said here is your suitcase! I was like thank you God! So my luggage arrived we still do not know where it wound up we really didn't care cause it is here with me :o) I am starting to miss everyone back at home. Every once in a while when I have the time I look at pics of family and Corey. I love you all! I am learning a lot so far. I got to ride in the driver seat yesterday, which in Niarobi is the passanger seat. It was lots of fun! They drive really close from each other! These two days have been an adventure! Keep up the writing! We have internet where I am staying. It costs shilings though (money).
Now, let me tell you about the food I have the past few days. Airplane isn't the great but breakfast is a different story. This morning I had warm milk, hashbrowns (not like in America), wheat toast ( with awesome spread to put on top) fresh fruit, and mango juice which I did not enjoy as much as the warm milk. Everything here is sweet and the people here are beautiful!!!!! There is a shell station, and lots of markets. Tomorrow I fly to Kisumu check the map. I am there for 8 days we leave at 3:00 pm Kenya time. I do not know about the internet there. There is a 7 hours difference here. I believe you all are sleeping soundly right now! Goodmorning to everyone back at home or (goodnight ;O)
Much Love,
Jessica
PS. Mom, Dad, Dyl, Corey, Cait. If you want to call or whatever please do not text Diana call the KENYA PHONE! IT IS FREE! :o) Thanks And since I had a delay on my luggage I may not be able to get as much suveniors and I would have like to bring back suveniors for everyone but it is not possible.
